We wanted to see the full potential of a modern, reliable 10G network that is both good and old. The CCR2116-12G-4S+ allows you to forget about CPU limitations in your setup. Like the magnificent CCR2004, this router also features a powerful Amazon Annapurna Labs Alpine CPU. However, with 16 cores running at 2 GHz, this CCR performs much better than the other. For example, we see the least increase in single-core performance. This is the most important detail when it comes to CPU-bound intensive operations. The CCR2116-12G-4S+ sets a new standard for single-core performance across the entire CCR product family!

To make use of this power, you need the right connection. It features four 10G SFP+ ports. Each of these ports is connected to a separate, full-duplex link on the key chip of the Marvell Amethyst family. Then we have Gigabit Ethernet ports. Twelve of these are from the Marvell chip and there is a direct connection to the CPU for another Gigabit port.

Each group of four ports has its own separate full-duplex link to the key chip. There is no bottleneck here. You can expect similar performance to that of a key in most setups.
