The latest addition to MikroTik's IoT product family – KNOT – is a truly universal device with outstanding connectivity options and protocol support. Narrow Band and CAT-M technologies are used in this IoT Gateway.
Due to its low-cost, low-bandwidth cellular connection, it is supported by countless mobile operators worldwide. KNOT can monitor built-in GPIO pins, convert Modbus protocol to TCP, and even transmit Bluetooth packets via HTTPS and MQTT to the TCP/IP network.
You can use KNOT as a TCP bridge for cable Modbus sensors to send readings to a Modbus server, providing wireless connectivity to cable sensors like electricity meters and relays.
Ethernet can be used as a backup connection or a management channel for your network. The NB/CAT-M monthly plan is much cheaper than LTE.
For example, you can manage an automated machine with a Knot that has temperature and liquid sensors, using only a few megabytes per day.
KNOT offers support for multiple protocols and connection options: 2.4 GHz wireless, Bluetooth, PoE input and PoE output 2x 100 Mbps Ethernet ports, Micro USB. It provides maximum convenience at the lowest cost.
With the Bluetooth interface, you can use KNOT for asset tracking and telemetry based on Bluetooth advertising packets. KNOT supports any BLE tag that sends advertising data, including iBeacon, Eddystone, or other formats.
It has powerful filters to only pass relevant packets and ignore others.
KNOT is also a great tool for various outdoor IoT applications, including farm asset tracking, cold chain monitoring, industrial production, etc., with a DIN rail mounting included for easy integration.
